Musaic privacy policy

Musaic is a social app for sharing what you're listening to — songs, moments, messages, and
music games with friends. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who touches
it, and what you control.
What we collect
- Account information. Your email address, username, and password. Passwords are stored as a secure hash — we never see or store the plain text.
- Content you create. Songs you log, captions, tags, photos, comments, likes ("felts"), direct and group messages, and song-game activity (submissions, guesses, votes). This is stored so the app can show it to you and the people you choose to share it with.
- Music service handles. If you link Spotify or add an Apple Music handle, we store that handle so it can appear on your profile. Linking Spotify uses Spotify's official sign-in; we never see your Spotify password.
- Push notification tokens. If you enable notifications, we store a device token so we can deliver them. You can turn every category of notification off in settings.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, or browsing history, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
How we use your data
Only to run Musaic: showing your posts to followers, delivering messages and notifications,
powering search, song previews, the daily prompt, and the in-chat games. We do not sell your
data, we do not show ads, and we do not share your information with data brokers.
Services that process data on our behalf
- Supabase — our database and authentication provider. Stores accounts, posts, messages, and game data.
- Cloudinary — stores and serves the photos you attach to posts.
- Expo — delivers push notifications to your device.
- Spotify and Apple iTunes APIs — your song searches are sent to these services to return results and 30-second previews.
Each of these receives only what it needs to do its job.
Who can see your content
- Public account: your posts are visible to other signed-in Musaic users.
- Private account: only followers you approve can see your posts.
- Messages and group chats: visible only to the people in the conversation.
- Blocked users cannot see your content or contact you.
Your controls
- Edit or delete your posts and comments at any time.
- Make your account private, block users, and report posts, comments, or accounts.
- Leave group chats; delete conversations from your device.
- Turn any category of push notification off in settings.
- Delete your account from settings. This permanently removes your profile, posts, comments, messages, follows, and game history. It cannot be undone.
Data retention
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account, your data is deleted
from our production database. Images already delivered to other users' devices may persist in
their local caches until those caches clear.
Children
Musaic is not directed at children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to create an account.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll note it in the app. Continued use after a
change means you accept the updated policy.
